A member asked:

Think i may have a sinus infection and if i do then i've had it for a while now, how rare is it to get meningitis from this? i'm so scared

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare: The germs that cause meningitis can use the nasal membranes as an entry point. The aggressive germ will usually do this rapidly (within hours),not after sitting around & triggering a sinus infection. If you had a previous brain injury & were leaking spinal fluid into your nose this would be a expected complication.Your ability to slow down the germ & have it linger in your sinuses makes it unlikely
