Sounds like: a frozen shoulder. Your orthopedic surgeon should be able to tell you the most likely diagnosis based on exam and tests. If it is a frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) injecting the shoulder joint with steroids and saline (20-40 cc volume) followed by physical therapy can help with mobility and pain.
