A member asked:

What harm can unpasteurized cheeses do to a 29 week fetus, but i don't eat it often maybe once a month.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Consider listeria: Listeria monocytogenes is a germ known to be found in unpasteurized milk products (cheese). During pregnancy mother can become infected or colonized by the germ. It can cause fetal infection, miscarriage, still birth or a pervasive infection evident in the newborn period. In some cases the mother can become infected but have a normal pregnancy, but the risk remains.
