Booster every 10 yrs: Tetanus is a very serious illness that starts with lockjaw, muscle spasms, swallowing diff, neck pain, and fever. Children need their primary tetanus vaccinations, and adults should get a tetanus booster every 10 years (usually given as DT, a booster that also protects you against diphtheria). If you had one within 10 years (or even up to 20), then the chances of getting tetanus are extremely low.
