It depends: It could be anxiety, misplaced blood pressure cuff, shortness of breath when walking to the exam table, medication induced, whitecoat hypertension. Your physician will able to determine if the blood pressure is correct by repeating at least two readings. The same physician will ask medical questions for any risk factors that cause blood pressure up.
