A member asked:

56 years old woman, stomach virus went to er did blood work all normal except my alk.pho is 161 i was taking ibuprofen should i worry?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Somewhat elevated alkaline phosphatase levels are normal in nonfasting specimens for some people, and even in fasting specimens often no cause is found. If your physician is not concerned, i would not be either.
