Why were you tested?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, a common cause of elevated platelet count is iron deficiency. Take oral iron supplement with multivitamins and get retested in a few months when you see your doctor again.
