A member asked:

I recently had a cbc with a platelet level of 700 and wbc of 13. peripheral smear showed only mature grannulocytes nothing else. ideas? no symptoms!

Why were you tested?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, a common cause of elevated platelet count is iron deficiency. Take oral iron supplement with multivitamins and get retested in a few months when you see your doctor again.
