Depend...: Pyridium (phenazopyridine) is just a topical soothing agent, not an antibiotics, for the lining of bladder and urethra, which should exert its effectiveness right away but at unpredictable variable degree depending on the severity of infection and inflammation as well as personal tolerance. So, it is not for UTI, but as complementary agent to ease its related symptoms.
