What is better for a 1 year old calamine lotion or aveeno (oatmeal) anti itch cream. she has a rash/ hives that peak from time to time. how often is it ok to ap?

Avoid calamine: I find this too drying and often aggravates the process. Nothing you put on hives will affect their outcome, it is deep in the skin and triggered by some immune/allergic process. Aveeno (oatmeal) baths help with the itching and a long term antihistamine like zyrtec may help.
