A member asked:

Why would my general surgeon ask for a second inguinal lymph node biopsy if there were no cancer cells found?

Ask your surgeon: I don't know what the prior biopsy showed or how it was performed. Multiple possible reasons including inadequate sample, pathology needs more tissue for diagnosis, etc. Best to ask your surgeon why.

Suspicion: The surgeon has a suspicion that there are cancer cells that were missed by the first biopsy (a false negative test). This can happen with any test, the abnormality just isn't picked up for a variety of reasons. There may be enlarged lymph nodes seen on the CT scan or MRI that have appeared since the first procedure. Follow your surgeon's advice.
