Coffee and Zpak: Caffeine and azithromycin are not contraindicated when taking together. However, this can cause an irregular heart beat, decrease effectiveness of azithromycin and lower your own immune system to fight infection. It is a good idea to lower caffeine intake to less than 3 cups of coffee or equivalent caffeine a day while taking azithromycin.
