A member asked:

I'm 17 and my current bmi is 19. however my doctor says i have to put on weight to get to a bmi of 23. why is that necessary?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

BMI 19: BMI of 23 may or may not be necessary. Your BMI will be related to your height and weight. If you are short but comfortable that's fine and you can relax. If anyone in your family thinks you should be a bit "heavier" I would advise you to put on some weight. Please let me know how things are going.
