Melena: Hi Jeni MH, it is not uncommon to have dark stools with blood (melena) after a colonoscopy and polyp removal. It should subside in a few days as the sites heal. If it continues, becomes bright red, or if he has symptoms of weakness, shortness of breath, dizziness, or appears pale, then a trip to his doctor is a good idea. Hope thats helpful.
