Life threatening!: The picture I've included in my answer is a young women who waited to long to see a dentist about her broken, infected tooth. Her infection now has collected into her neck and not only threatens her heart and lungs, but it needed IV antibiotics, a hospital stay and to be drained. My advise is to ask a friend or family member for the money to pay a dentist. Your infection could kill you!

Cost of care: While I can sympathize with your predicament, I must state that putting off dental care, especially infections can lead to loss of time from work and more cost. It can even become life threatening. Try to at least see a dentist asap for an emergency visit/consultation/antibiotic. Consider going to a local dental school or hospital based dental residency program to reduce costs.

So sorry: Unfortunately there is no substitute for professional care when you have an infection. Dental infections can quickly spread and even become life threatening. Ask Dentist if they have a payment plan. Seek Rx at a Dental School where fees are reduced. Call Social Services for Dental Clinic locations. I'm afraid you really can't safely put off treatment.

Community health: http://healthlincchc.org has a community health center available for you locally. Care costs should be scaled to your means so it will likely be very helpful but you may have to wait awhile to be seen. Best of luck!

Dental Emergency: Good day; Attempt to find dental facility that may offer free dental emergency. At least try emergency room to receive antibiotic and a pain medicine so you remain for the short term.
