A member asked:

Can antibodies or immunity to mono be passed through breastfeeding? if so for how long does the immunity last?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not much: The IGG antibodies that develop after mono are not passed in significant quantities in breast milk. They do pass through the placenta, so that immunity is available for the first 3 months or so. BM antibodies are primarily IGA which helps stop any germs from getting through, but it is not as strong a deterrent as the IGG.
