Hypothyroidism: That is complex. A baby born without a thyroid can have life long severe consequences if treatment is delayed or discontinued. An elderly or compromised person might die because their body can't withstand the additional problem of hypothyroidism. If it is you, otherwise healthy, thyroid was removed you might go a while feeling hypothyroid before you were severely ill. Monitor! take medicine!
