Adjust the dose: Many things affect the TSH level. Tissue in the body has the ability to convert T4 to T3 when needed. There are many things that can alter synthroid (thyroxine) absorption. See if you started taking your medication with food or antacids. This commonly lowers absorption of synthroid (thyroxine), leading to symptoms of hypothyroidism. Meet with your doc to recheck TSH level and have synthroid (thyroxine) redosed.

Not specific: The signs & symptoms of hypothyroidism are not specific for hypothyroidism (not a single one). Recheck your thyroid labs. If they're normal, your symptoms are due to something else. Having said that, I'm happy to do a trial of Cytomel with the Synthroid (thyroxine) in patients who want to try as long as I don't make them hyperthyroid. Some people report feeling better with comparable labs taking a little T3.
