The most common: cause of numbness of the leg is a pinched nerve in the back. Even though your question doesn't mention back trauma, only leg, you may have hurt yourself in both places. A blood clot in the leg can cause numbness, but typically it would be painful to touch, hot, and perhaps discolored/red. Perhaps you hurt your knee and the fact you can't walk makes it feel numb. Prompt/urgent evaluation is needed.
