Unclear question: If you are talking about total serum proteins, it may be because you were dehydrated due to not drinking water for the fasting blood test. The other major cause is increase in gamma globulins due to inflammation or tumor of the plasma cells. The starting point of the investigation would be serum protein electrophoresis.
