A member asked:

28yo w history of ovarian cysts. have 1.6cm 'minimally complex w/thin septation' cyst. is septation cause for alarm? see conflicting opinions online.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No alarm: At 1.6cm cyst in a women who is 28 years of age is probably not a big deal. First of all, 1.6cm is very small. This cyst is probably a functional cyst, meaning part of the ovulatory function of the ovary. As such it will usually go away on its own in a few weeks. If you repeat an u/s in a couple of months, you can prove it is gone. Ovarian Cancer is uncommon at your age. Best wishes!
