Back PaIn/Constipati: Significant. Constipation can potentially cause back pain due to gas & spasm of the large intestine. High fiber diet, adequate liquid intake(6-8glasses of water) & possibly a fiber supplement such as Metamucil improve bowel movement function & decrease pain . Possibility of back injury should not be overlooked as an explanation.

Yes: Referred pain from full bowel can cause back pain...But causes of back pain (disc, strain, trauma, tumor, etc.) can cause constipation. See your doc.

and ... the supporting tissue of the small intestine, called the mesenteric root, comes directly from the back body wall and so there is a physical and physiological connection (actually, there are many). Be sure you drink lots of water, exercise and get enough fiber and veggies and fruits daily, and , yes, check with your doctor to make sure it's nothing scary.

Yes: Usually lower back in the lumbar region as a rectum full of hard stool pulls on the supporting ligaments of the rectum that are attached to the lower back. Of course many other things can cause back pain as well, so best to be evaluated by your doctor or a specialist.

Back pain : I can only think of kidney stones and muscle tightness and cramps that cause back pain. Constipation can only cause back pain if you are straining really hard and tense your back muscle while hunched over that can cause back pain. I would see a if stool softeners or higher fiber can help with the constipation. If it continues, then see a specialist.
