Trying to determine cause of hard stools, i have noticed a few days of high fibre clears up mild constipation but as soon as i have 1 or 2 days of less fibre its like im getting backed up again is this normal?

It sounds pretty normal. Humans require fiber for healthy bowel movements. Consider making dietary fiber a regular part of your diet. This doesn't have to come through supplements, minimally processed plant foods (fruit, vegetables, beans, nuts/seeds, whole grains) will suffice.
