Slim but not zero: Proper use of condom is great way to lower risk of pregnancy & sexually transmitted infections but it doesn't make risk absolutely zero. Birth control pills don't take effect immediately which is why we recommend 2nd method initially. But ongoing use of both is best, most effective, way to reduce risk of pregnancy & STDs/STIs. Depending upon age, ask your FamilyDoc or GYN about HPV vaccine too.
