Depends: If you and your pcp have a good relationship and he/she knows your and your conditon(s) and is trusting of your history, etc, then the doctor may feel comfortable calling in a prescription for you with some cautions and follow up. Otherwise, no! antibiotics are not over the counter and unless you know what you are taking, prescribing for and what the cause is, it is dangerous for you. Don't!

In Mexico, not in US: Do not believe antibiotics are dispensed without Dr's on nurse practitioner's prescription anywhere in the USA. You could get them in Mexico without a prescription, that is if you live close to US/Mexico border.
