Old recommendation: Flagyl/ Metronidazole is very common given during pregnancy even in the first trimester. The recommendations to avoid it in the first trimester are outdated.

This is a: common "happening" although not making "easier" for YOU there IS NO DEFINITIVE EVIDENCE THAT FLAGYL HAS ANY HARMFUL EFFECTS in early Pregnancy...There is not sufficient data to allow the use of the drug across the board and the FDA will NOT "confirm" its safety until more data is available! Hope this helps (a bit)!
