Expected: The D is a stimulant and thus it is not surprising that you end up with insomnia. Mucinex (guaifenesin) D will cause similar side effects. Nasal steroid is far more effective and would not cause insomnia or drowsiness.

Don't use "D": The "D" in many medications is causing your side effects of being awake and jittery. Please only use oral antihistamines without the "D" to help with nasal congestion - zyrtec, allegra, claritin. You can also try OTC nasal steroid sprays.
