A member asked:

76 male having fever of unknown origin. was having antibiotic iv for 10 days. first 3 days were great with no fever but then fever returned. why?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Treatment failure: using an antibiotic to treat FUO is very common. Return of the fever suggests either wrong antibiotic or not a condition caused by bacteria. And remember, in South Asia here are many infections that have fevers that cycle over days (malaria being the classic example).
