See below : 1) treat fecal impaction by softening the stool. Best done with an enema (e.g. warm mineral oil enema). Glycerin suppositories lubricate anal area. 2) treat constipation with osmotic laxative (e.g. Mag citrate, Miralax). 3) identify and correct cause(s) of constipation. 4) prevent further constipation: fluids, fiber, stool softener. Fifth: if pain persists, rule see MD to rule out anal fissure.
