Is it typical to be required to stop beta blocker prior to ep study? i've been taking propranolol for 5 years, 3 x daily. how can i do this?

Yes; taper off / 1wk: Beta blockers can suppress arrhythmias, & the EP study is a provocative test (trying to induce an arrhythmia to see where it's coming from). Stopping beta blockers abruptly can cause "rebound" increases in blood pressure, so the usual method is to taper off. Talk to the EP doc who scheduled the EP study to determine how the taper should be done. (I usually say 1/2 dose every 3 days, but that's me)
