Nerve compressed: Usually it involves the nerves being compressed and inflamed or otherwise called a neuroma. The third interspace of the foot is the most common and called mortons neuroma. Usually an cortisone injection with orthotic/nsaid use helps alleviate the pain. Surgery involves either removing the nerve or more recently decompressing the area where the nerve is located if conservative therapy fails.
