Gastroenterologist: IF you are experiencing such severe diarrhea that you have lost 10 lbs in 8 days then you need to be seen by your primary care doctor or gastroenterologist. Also notify the gynecologist doing your laparoscopy. They may want to delay the surgery until you are well.
