Keep them clean: To keep your retainers clean you should try to brush them with a toothbrush and toothpaste each time you brush. If retainers are not kept clean they get a plaque build-up and odor. Unless your retainers appear damaged I see no reason why a Colgate soft total advanced whitening toothbrush would harm them. To be on the safe side ask your Orthodontist about this on your next visit.

Retainers: Brush them every time you brush your teeth. Use a plain soft toothbrush. Brush gently but thoroughly, including any wires. Avoid toothpaste or whitening agents as abrasivity can dull the shine of the plastic. Place retainers into Denture Cleaner (Polident, Efferdent) while you eat dinner. After dinner rinse them carefully and put back into your mouth.
