Need consult: Dear AmandaV, the neck has many vital structures and I would be concerned about any swelling/pressure there. You need to give a doctor more information and you need to be examined. It could nothing life-threatening, like a muscle but it could also be something like your thyroid or the artery. I hope this helps, Dr. C
