A member asked:

Something just under the top of my right kneecap seems to fail ( i almost fall over) when climbing stairs. other than that, on the flat i can walk and run perfectly. i am 65, 6'2" and 190 lbs.

Knee: If your knee tends to buckle on stairs only there may be arthritis or some internal derangement like cartilage or ligament problem. Be sure to hold onto handrailings when using stairs. An orthopedic surgeon is best qualified to evaluate and treat any knee pathology and appropriate testing and therapy will be ordered.
