Heartburn: Heartburn is actually stomach acid coming up into the esophagus, causing irritation. It can certainly wake you up, especially if you eat a heavy meal within 2 hrs of lying down. Limit fatty foods in the evening. Try not to eat within 2 hrs of lying down. Avoid alcohol and acidic foods. Use an extra pillow to elevate your shoulders at night. Try omeprazole 20 mg x2 wks. If no better, see a doctor.
