Neck and tongue: There are several possible connections here. If the "knots" are swollen lymph nodes due to infection, that could affect the tongue. The Hypoglossal nerve runs down into the neck and back to the tongue, affecting muscle movement of the tongue. The close proximity of tongue to neck can make any discomfort in one, affect the other.
