See answer: Depending on severity of epididymitis and assuming the diagnosis is correct and that you have been treated with appropriate antibiotics, it is common for swelling, because of the inflammation, to take much longer to resolve (up to 6-12 weeks) than the acute pain and discomfort (usually 1-3 weeks). In some cases, the involved epididymis remains mildly enlarged after resolution.
