No worries: Stool can have various colorations, most of which really have no medical significance. Three week olds usually have loose stools so call your doctor if the are hard. Also call if your baby has not gone in over 3 days (though its usually not a worry). Call if stools are persistently white or if they have red blood or are tarry black (a sign of old blood).

Normal: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is adds to fecal debris.It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile.Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs.
