A member asked:

My 9 year old daughter has had green stools for 2 weeks. i know its not her diet. she also complains of stomach pains off and on.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal varient: The stool color is provided by the bile from the liver that is added to fecal debris. It starts out a deep green & slowly changes thru greens to yellows to browns as the germs in the intestines metabolize the bile.Green generally means the stool in question moved through faster or was subject to less change by gut germs. The cramping reflects rapid transit.A probiotic yogurt may settle her system.
