Inpatient success: In a 2002 study DBT, a form of cognitive behavioral therapy provided in an inpatient setting for three months seemed be successful in reducing symptoms related to depression, anxiety, poor inter- personal functioning, poor social adjustment, global psychopathology and self-mutilation in patients with borderline personality disorder. It is now considered the gold standard for treatment of BPD.
