Check with doc!: Do not give any prescription medication to your child that has not been prescribed by his/her doc! Please call the doc and check. If your child is having trouble breathing and you cannot reach the doc, get evaluated at an ER or UC now.

Dose of albuterol is based on body weight which you do not mention. The usual dose is 0.1-0.2 mg/kg q8h. If your child weighs 22 pounds or 10 kg that would be 1 to 2 mg per dose every 8 hrs. Liquid albuterol comes as 0.4 mg/ml. Therefore you would begin him at 2.5 ml = 1 mg of albuterol every 8 hrs and see response. You can adjust upward to5.0 ml/ dose if need be. Voilà!

Dr. Gprdon is correct about dosages, but still check with the child's doc first, if it has not been prescribed for her. Do not assume that albuterol is the proper treatment! Young children do not present with typical "wheezing", and it is crucial that the proper diagnosis is made. True wheezing, if heard, may be due to an inhaled foreign object. Have your kid checked!

Is it normal for my 1-year-old to be shy?

Yes: Of course! stranger anxiety is an important part of infant development and usually will start shortly after 6 months and peak at 1-2 years of age. Of course, some infants are more shy than others and some are outgoing - just like adults! there is no need to worry about this trait and no need to try to fix it.

My is my 1 year old getting mrsa?

MRSA is everywhere: Many people have MRSA and do not know it. It is similar to an even more common bacteria but has become resistant to penicillins and some other antibiotics, so it helps to know about it when treating an infection. If someone in the home has been found to carry mrsa, there is a good chance he has been exposed, but that does not mean anything bad. Just let his doc know in case of infections.

If you're worried that your baby is getting a skin infection it's best to have him seen by his physician. Whether or not its MRSA, a skin infection should be evaluated.

Growth spurt: It may be she is going through a growth spurt and getting hungry. Revise her feeding schedule and offer her some solids for supper. Is she teething? Is she in the same room as you? Sometimes they realize its nicer to be in moms bed.

State hotlines: In most states there is a hotline where you can report suspicion of abuse or neglect anonymously. The intake person will take down the observations you report & assign the report a case number. Depending on the state you can avoid further contact or agree to be interviewed by a case worker.Cases are prioritized so life threatening cases are worked first & lesser cases later. Make the call.
