Lacunar infarcts: Lacunar infarcts, small deep infarcts that result from occlusion of a small penetrating artery, account for about a quarter of all ischemic strokes. These infarcts have commonly been regarded as benign vascular lesions with a favorable long-term prognosis. However, it is also known now, long term that people may be at increased risk for generalized occlusive dx, so assure BP and chol are good!
