Ligament injury, PT: The high speed stop with rotation is an injury mechanism that can cause ligament damage around the ankle joint creating an ankle sprain. Good to hear no fractures. The twitching is likely caused by your muscles firing. Physical therapy is a very good option for you to work on rehabbing your ankle and strengthening the muscles about the ankle. You could also use a brace to protect it.
