Stomach reduction: The stomach is divided into zones, with each zone responsible for a particular action. For example, a region of the stomach is responsible for acid production, another region is responsible for production of Intrinsic Factor, which is responsible for Vitamin B12 absorption. So reducing the surface area of the stomach may eliminate vital regions of the stomach.
