Not usually: Hiccups can be normal in children and adults. It is pathologic if it starts to interfere with eating, sleeping, gaining weight or changes in mental status. Some tumors affect the nerves that control the pathway that causes hiccups can present that way. normal hiccups terminate after a while. If these hiccups dont stop or get worse, see your PCP for work up

Likely not: He is 2 and there have been no previous problems. It may have been his diet? Follow up if it becomes persistent with a video. All the best.
