Protracted : Protracted withdrawal or abstinent syndrome is when craving & other w/d symptoms last beyond the acute w/d phase. Can take months & even years in certain individuals to fully recover which is one maintenance therapy was approved. Individuals with this condition may benefit from agonist based therapy due to higher incidence of relapse. Discuss abstinence-based treatment with an addictionologist.
