Dr. Bernard Seif answered

Specializes in Clinical Psychology

Chronic pain is: obviously very difficult for you and secondarily for the doc. He/she is human and gets frustrated, not at you but at the situation. Please stay w/your doc and consider adding behavioral medicine to your treatment. A clinical psychologist who is specifically trained can teach you self-hypnosis. See www.asch.net for more info. Peace and good health. Biofeeback is another option.

Please consider: Doctors are threatened by sanctions from both State and DEA sources, and feel uncertain as how to best treat pain. But they also know that narcotics can present life threatening risks, and patients have died secondary to these drugs. It may be best to change doctors until you find one with whom you feel comfortable. May help here onsite via Concierge visit.
