Diuretics: Diuretics have different purposes. Some are given to mobilize sodium and water to remove excess fluid from the body to reduce swellin or edema, or treat congestive heart failure. Some are given to treat high blood pressure and some are potassium sparing. Depending on why it is being used the doctor may make a specific choice.
