C. diff colitis: The treatment of lower GI bleeding depends on the source of the bleeding. Clostridium difficile colonizes the human intestinal tract after the normal gut flora has been altered by antibiotic therapy and causes antibiotic-associated colitis. Clinical manifestations of C. difficile–associated diarrhea with colitis include watery diarrhea with lower abdominal pain and cramping, low-grade fever.
