A member asked:

Can a toddler get hand foot and mouth twice? if he does would there be a reason why he is more susceptible?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: There are 2-3 strains of viruses that have been associated with this pattern of rash. Each separate strain would give long lasting immunity, so the same strain would not be repeated. There is also some variation in the pattern that overlaps with other causes. I've seen chickenpox masquerade is HFM.
